L&H Dentalcare’s facilities include a ground floor reception and fully accessible treatment rooms. Please just let us know if you have any accessibility needs when booking your appointment.
The practice now known as L&H Dentalcare has been looking after patients for more than 80 years. During that time we have been dedicated to providing the highest standards of dental care.
The practice founded by Tom Barnard Jr in Hamilton.
Tom Barnard Jr qualified as a dentist.
T.J. Barnard retired and Tom purchased the practice Tom Barnard Jr qualified as a dentist.
Hygienist care initiated was into the practice.
Tom retired and after two generations of Barnards running the practice, the practice was sold to Rab Lambert and Iain Hunter.
Rab and Iain guided the practice through its conversion to Denplan with the practice fast becoming the biggest Denplan practice in Scotland.
Following a fire, the premises were refurbished. Conor O’Malley and Phil Redfearn joined the practice
Paul Cooney joins the practice.
Conor, Phil and Paul became partners. L&H Dentalcare was born.
Computerisation, paperless office, digital imaging including photography and x-rays & text messaging. Dr Hunter retires.
A new refurbishment took place with greater emphasis on patient comfort and improving the environment for all.
After 40 years here, Mr Lambert retires.
We moved in to new ground floor premises with 3 brand new surgeries with wheelchair access.
L&H dental lab opens providing in-house custom made crowns, bridges, veneers & implant restorations.

Our hygienists are trained to enhance dental health, thus maintaining lifelong comfort and confidence in your smile..
Dental Nurses
All of our dedicated team of nurses are here to facilitate your care. Each nurse follows our own advanced training program in the latest techniques for cosmetic and reconstructive treatments after first completing the national dental nursing qualification.
Customer Services Team
Our customer service team are often your first point of contact with L & H dentalcare. We have experienced receptionists and administrators here at the practice who are all trained to our high standards in customer care. They have a good understanding of the treatments provided here and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The team at L&H Dentalcare are committed to further education.
All of our dentists have gained further qualifications which help us keep up to date with the latest techniques and treatments. We all have the primary postgraduate qualification of either MJDF/MFDS/MFGDP. On top of that there are 3 MScs, 1 Diploma and 1 FGDP Fellowship.
At the same time our hygienists and dental nurses also undertake regular training and refresher courses.
We think it is important to work together as a team to improve the way we do things for you. So we set aside the first Wednesday of each month on Staff Training to update everyone’s knowledge in key areas of caring for you better.

The practice has appointed a ‘lead infection control nurse’ whose role is to attend courses and educate the team with the most up to date Infection Control advice. By making sure we are following all of the policies and guidelines we can deliver the best standards for patients.
In 2019 we built our 2 room LDU. Our gold standard LDU is used for cleaning and sterilising our instruments providing the best quality in patient care.
The LDU is a state-of-the-art central sterilisation room for cleaning and sterilising our instruments. Have a look in the glass door on your way to visit the hygienist and you’ll see how it works.
The BDA Good Practice is the highest standard of clinical governance in dentistry in the UK. There are 103 guidelines that must be adhered to which means that our practice is run efficiently and follows best practice.
At L&H Dentalcare we’re committed to providing you with the highest standard of care and were the first practice in Scotland to win the award in 2002. In 2011 we were awarded with the highest level, BDA Gold Membership.
